RAIN RAIN GO AWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHTS – FAN APPRECIATION AND URC SPRINTS CARS HELP CELEBRATE LABOR DAY AT DELAWARE

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – For the fifth time in seven weeks rain washed out action at the Delaware International Speedway. The track now sets its sites on a big Labor Day celebration.

This Saturday night, September 1st the United Racing Company will make its third and final visit of the season along with the NAPA Big Block Modifieds, the Super Late Models, AC Delco PSC Modifieds, Crate Models and Mod Lites. The last time the URC sprints were at the track Ed Aiken earned his first Delaware win in a classic battle with veteran Kramer Williamson.

Fans will be treated to more than just racing as several organizations have pitched in to provide lots of giveaways. The first 400 fans through the gates will receive either a URC hat or a racing T-shirt from the Delaware Office of Highway Safety.

Thanks to the efforts of track chaplains Senior Pastor Mike Mills and Development Pastor Dave Wilcutts of the Freedom Worship Center of Milford, Del. and driver Robert Dutton and his wife Tracie there will be lots of other giveaways during intermission. The group has joined forces with other churches in the area for a “Night at the Races They have gotten donations from area businesses that will be part of the Delmarva Driver’s Club 50/50. There will be gift certificates to local restaurants, back to school backpacks, a pair of kids bikes and the opportunity for a kid to race against his or her favorite local driver on the track’s kart slick track the following week. The Dutton’s will also be giving away a case of motor oil to the winner of each feature and a dinner gift certificate to the hard luck driver in each main. More contributions are expected from area businesses during the week.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m. General admission is $20 with children 13 and under admitted free on the spectator side with a paying adult. Pit admission is $25.
