DONALD LINGO, JR. BACK IN FORM – WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE ON LAST LAP THEN WINS KING OF KINGS

Donald Lingo, Jr. seems determined to win his fifth Super Late Model track championship. Saturday night Donald captured the 20-lap Super Late Model feature, his third of the season, then went on to win the “King of Kings shootout for feature winners.

Lingo, Jr. and Mark Byram captured the qualifying heats and with the four car inversion draw started in third and four respectively. Richard Jarvis, Jr. jumped out to the early lead with Lingo, Jr. quickly working into second. The yellow was out on lap two when Mike Mort, who was making his first start of the season, flipped.

Jarvis controlled the restart as David Hill shot by Lou Johnson and Lingo for second. On lap four Hill drove past Jarvis to take the lead while Kerry King worked his way into fourth. At the halfway sign the top five were Hill, Lingo, Jarvis, King and Herb Tunis.

Tunis’ charge came to an end at this point as he came to a stop bringing out the yellow. On the restart Byram worked by Johnson for fifth and with four to go was up to third. Lingo was turning laps about a tenth of a second faster than Hill and on the final turn he was able to power by and take the win by .115 seconds over Hill. Third went to Byram with Jarvis and King rounding out the top five.

Only four of the ten drivers eligible for the King of Kings for the Late Model were in competition Saturday night. Donald Lingo, Jr. moved by Richard Jarvis, Jr. on the second lap and never looked back as he went on to the win and a perfect night at the speedway. Jarvis finished in the second spot with Mark Byam third and Staci Warrington fourth.
