JESTER ON A ROLL - TAKES 5TH WIN IN BIG BLOCK MODS

By CHARLIE BROWN, DELMAR, DE – Matt Jester is a man on a mission in search of his second NAPA Big Block Modified crown. Jester padded his point lead Saturday night winning his third in his last four starts and his fifth overall for the season.

Qualifying heats were won by Shawn Ward and H.J. Bunting but the ten car inversion draw would find Howard O’Neal on the pole for the 25-lap main. O’Neal jumped out to the early lead with Jamie Mills powering from fourth to second on lap one. Jester was on the move from sixth taking third from Michael White on lap five.

Mills would take the lead two laps later and Jester followed into second on lap eight. The yellow would fly before the lap was complete and the leader Mills, made contact with a lapped car and spun in the third turn. Jester was now the new leader and Brad Trice shot into second. The final yellow would come just past halfway when Art Valdesere, Jr. slowed with a flat.

On the restart, Jester went to the high groove and began to pull away as Bunting locked into a great battle for second with Trice. With five to go, Jester was comfortably out front with Trice and Bunting still dicing it out for second. Beau Wilkins held down fourth and Mills had climbed back into the top five.

Bunting got by Trice with one to go but would end his night before the checkered when the rear suspension broke in the fourth turn. Jester would take the win and increase his point lead with just two more point races left in the season. Trice finished second with Wilkins third. Fourth went to Mills and O’Neal rounded out the top five.
