MIKE STRATTON WAITS 16 YEARS FOR SECOND FALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN MOD LITES

A strong field of 22 Mod Lites took the green in their 20-lap Championship main. Jason Musser grabbed the lead from James Hill on lap one but it was Mike Stratton moving on top on the next lap. Hill was having obvious problems and slowed to bring out the yellow on lap four. On the restart Ty Short took over third and Alan Passwaters held down fourth.

Stratton kept a comfortable lead throughout the race while Musser and Short maintained a battle for second. Ray Gulliver worked his way up to fourth and Chris Justice climbed to fifth in his first start of the season. Stratton went on to win his first Fall Championship since 1997. Musser held off Short for his best career finish while Gulliven and Justice rounded out the top five. Heats on Friday night were won by Musser and Hill. Stratton’s win was worth $1440 including lap leader money.
