MIKE WHARTON BACK ON TOP IN CRATE MODELS

Alessa Young set the pace at the start of the 15-lap Crate Model feature. The first yellow was out on lap two when Mike Wilson and Dylan Evans tangled while battling for second. On the restart Steve Baker picked up the challenge of Young with Michael Wharton pulling to third. Wharton took second on lap five and Eric Vent worked his way up into third.

Wharton was able to edge by Young on lap nine just as Vent’s charge came to an end as he slowed to bring out the second and final yellow. On the restart Baker made a bid for second but Young was able to fend off the challenge. Wharton would drive to his second win of the year with Young posting a personal best in second. Baker finished in the third spot with Matt Hill fourth and Sparky White fifth. Heats were won by Hill and Baker. In the 10-lap “King of Kings for the Crate Model season winners it was Robbie Walls, Jr over Tyler Reed.
