For the past several years DIS has been known for it’s weekly Saturday night dirt track program. With the retirement of Charles Cathell, his wife Joyce and brother Hal, the management team of SDM Promotions plans to bring some new ideas to the Delaware International Speedway.

 

First, SDM would like to address an earlier statement posted regarding rain dates. After several conversations we have decided not to attempt to run the Saturday and/or Sunday if a rainout occurs on a Friday night. We will now have TBA dates on the schedule to accommodate a potential Friday night rainout.

 

“The Friday night program decision came from evaluating the opportunity to draw more teams to our facility�, says promoter, Mark Cathell. Bridgeport and New Egypt Speedway’s have strong Saturday night programs. We are hoping our move to Friday’s may entice some teams to come race with us.

 

The season will kick off on Friday night April 1, with open practice for all classes. DIS will host 9 points races, 3 (URC) & 2 (USAC) Sprint races. Plus, Battle of the Bay, STSS Diamond State 50 and the “50th Anniversary� Camp Barnes Race, Monsters of Metal Monster Truck show and the season will end with the Delaware State Dirt Track Championship Races.

 

New for 2022, the Speed-Week Season Kick-Off April 26-30, Night of Destruction Demolition Derby, 1st State Truck and Tractor Pull Championships and Camp-Out Spooktacular Halloween event.
