Elliott Farms Increases 604 Crate Late Models Schedule for 2024

Delmar, DE -

Over the winter months Mark and Denise Cathell met with longtime sponsors and car owners Debbie and Tommy Elliott. The Elliotts wanted to help try to rebuild the late models scene at DIS. The Elliotts were the past owners of 604 Crate Late Model #16, driven by third generation driver David “Sparky” White.

Late model racing here on the shore has declined in the past few years. Between the cost of operating a team at the Super Late Model level, locally it had dropped to a half dozen cars. This gave less parts and chassis etc, to pass down to Crate Late Model teams. What we’ve been watching is the growth of the Steel Block Bandit organization the past couple of years. We are going to experiment with two races this season that may give us a better look into the future. The SBB have 604 Crate Late Model that run with them and have done well at some of their races.

For the DIS, Elliott Farms Crate Late Models on May 25 and August 24 we are offering points for those races to our 604 Teams. Points will be awarded for their finishes excluding the SBB drivers. Example: Elliott Farms 604 Driver finishes third behind two SBB drivers, that driver will receive the winners points as the top finisher. These points will follow the same order throughout the official feature results. In addition to these two events, the Elliott Farms 604 Crate Late Models will be added to Saturday night, May 11th, line up!

Fans, get ready for the Elliott Farms Shore Showdown, Saturday, May 25th and Saturday, August 24th as our locals will race door to door with the invading Steel Block Bandit 358 “Limited Late Models” listed on our 2024 schedule.
