Miller Scores First of Season at Delaware International

Delmar, DE. May, 25th 2024, Nick Fillman, USAC ECSC.

Kenny Miller lll of Morgantown, PA, scored his first Rapid Tire Services, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, presented by Capitol Renegade Series win of the season, in just his second event of the season at the Delaware International Speedway.

Scoring the heat race victory earlier in the evening, and redrawing the pole of the feature event, Miller went on to lead all twenty-five laps of the feature event on his way to victory. Miller and team were making only their second start of the season. The team fought engine and mechanical issues during their first outing at the Port Royal Speedway. Moving into the Delaware International Speedway, the team fought the same issues all night long, and seemed less than optimistic about the feature.

Perhaps the issues that lingered even through the feature event, allowed the driver, who is already among the best with the series in slick track conditions, allowed the car to work even better for the feature event.

As we have mentioned over and over, Miller simply can not be a full time driver with the series due to his work commitments. If not for his work commitments, Miller would be a serious threat for more wins and potentially a series championship. Hopefully we will see Miller and team back in action soon.

Steven Drevicki was the runner up finisher on Saturday night, in his heat race, and the feature event. By virtue of his runner up finish, and Alex Bright’s 5th, Drevicki has retaken the points lead from Bright by just six markers.

The biggest mover of Saturday nights feature was Jason Cherry who went from tenth to seventh place. Cherry is another of our drivers who can really showcase what he’s got when the track surface slicks off.

Coming up next for the series is an off weekend, followed by the annual $5,000 to win, Bill Gallagher, 5G Memorial Race at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 10th. As a reminder, this event will be an open heat race draw, and redraw for the feature event, as will all events for the remainder of the season. A rule change from the points handicapping that had been in place prior to the season start.
